We are pleased to announce the opening of our Make-up Studio on London Road- St Albans!
This week (11th – 17th April) Shahnaz is teaching a 1 Week Intensive Make -up Diploma designed specifically for those who wish to become fully qualified make up artists.
Week commencing 18th April 2hr slots are available for One-to-One Make-up /Styling lessons, these are designed for everyone and anyone who wants to understand make up application. Day and party make up is covered during this tutorial as well as eye lash application!

Well what an amazing start to 2011 it has been for The Make-up Girl, we have booked over 40 weddings in January alone and enquiries are still coming in on a daily basis. Obviously most of the popular dates have already been taken – but fear not, as some time slots during April/May are available so please submit your enquiry form.

Bank Holiday Weekend Wedding

Claire Brown got married at the perfectly styled countryside location of Coltsfoot Country Retreat Hertfordshire on the only warm sunny day over the Bank Holiday weekend in August! Claire wanted a hairtsyle with plenty of volume and drama as it’s the one time in a girls life when she can afford to have a dramatic hairstyle and something she wouldn’t be able to re-create herself. Bride Of The Month

Natasha got married on the 24th July in Hemel, Hertfordshire and it was an absolute pleasure in helping Natasha create her dream hairstyle and make up look! The brief was to achieve a flawless finish using the minimum amount of base and eye make up my bride wanted to keep it natural but have enough impact to wow her guests and of course the groom. I’m happy that I helped in making Natasha’s wedding day even more memorable.

Skincare Used By Top Celebrities!

People always compliment on how smooth, radiant and well moisturised my skin is even in the Winter months when the weather is unkind to the skin. I do all the usual things to help keep my skin looking youthful for example drinking plenty of water (minimum 2 litres a day) I eat lots of very brightly coloured vegetables (peppers, carrots, beetroot) and I stay away from alcohol, take away and ready meals due to the high salt/fat content! But even the best of us need a helping hand.
My friend Carole Goddard who is a respected Skincare Specialist and Aesthetician and supplier of some of the most wonderful products for the face and body recommened that I try SkinSceuticals the US Brand of Skincare that has been in the UK for a few years but only available through some online stockists and very few salons.
I use the Emollience Cream every morning, together with the Eye Cream and a number of special Serums designed for fighting the effects of ageing caused by exposure to the elements. Also I use the Night Cream and sometimes the Clay Mask as an extra boost! I’ve never looked back and wished that I had dicovered this sooner : )
So ladies it worth investing in a good skincare brand even if you’re in your 20′s as you’ll be thankful in the long run….remember that old Proverb Prevention Is Better Than Cure.

A few of my favourite things!!

These are the essential beauty must haves that I carry in my make-up bag and will not leave home without!
Fist of all Dior Show Mascara, undoubtedly the best lengthening, voluminous and long lasting mascara on the market. Doesn’t smudge or turn gloopy.
Secondly I just cannot live without the Mac Cremestick nude lip pencil in Creme O Spice it’s a perfect colour for most skin tones and on the days you don’t fancy a heavily made up look, just a hint of lip pencil with a lip balm can add that all important warmth!
I line my eyes with the Clinique Quick Eyes creme liner and for someone who wears contact lenses and has ultra sensitive eyes this liner it perfect! Doesn’t smudge (only if you want it to) or irritate the eyes and most importantly once applied you don’t need to re-apply in a hurry!! Very long lasting.
For kissable soft lips I use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream it also great for dry skin patches on the hands and face!
And finally I use MAC Harmony Blush on my cheeks and I have been using this particular colour and brand for about……..11 years!! Of course now and again I change my blush but always come back to MAC…ahhhhhh.
